What to do in Andorra?
Ordino was historically known for its forges, especially the forge of El Serrat and El Areny. The last forge closed in the late nineteenth century, causing a major demographic decline. However, in 1983 the ski resort of Ordino-Arcalis, located in Coma Forat, in the Sierra de Arcalis was inaugurated. Thus, the parish was able to devote exclusively to the tourism sector.
Besides being the historical industrial center, Ordino is considered the cultural center of Andorra. Here the "Manual Digest" (1784) was written, called the "Andorran Bible," about the history, government, and the uses and customs of Andorra. The author of the work was Antoni Fiter i Rossell, born and raised in Ordino.
Ordino include, above all, the parish church of Sant Corneli, with two images of the Virgin, Romanesque of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, the farmhouses Fiter-Riba, where the original copy of "Manual Digest" is saved, and Areny-Plandolit, the owner of the Areny Forge, now a museum family. Furthermore, in Ordino we can find a large sports center with swimming pool and sauna, miniature museum, postal museum, conference center and numerous bars and restaurants.
